Fresh out the oven - Donuts for Daze

Online now.!

Well that was a massive effort.! And a lot of lessons learned. Some painful - as are most lessons worth learning.

Over 3 years ago when i was sitting at my desk facing possible redundancy i had made the decision to do something creative. Something that wouldn’t cost a lot and that i could control. At that point the idea of Doric Skateboards was pretty much as it is now - i wanted to screen print as much of my own stuff as possible. Its taken until last year to venture into clothing. A couple of factors contribute to this.

Mainly Time and Confidence.

It takes time to plan venturing into new process’s. And i really had to wait for the down time of post Christmas to achieve that. And thanks to all the lovely people that support us i ended up with the budget to purchase new equipment too.

A four screen rig, new screens (you can’t use the same type of screens on a skateboard as a tee.! ), squeegees, ink (again - some different inks can be used.).

Its been a tough learning curve and i hope i’ve got that message across on social media. I’m not sharing the process to show how busy i am or anything like that. It’s meant to be a way of being totally transparent. I’ll share mistakes and concerns. No faking it (although i did used to think “fake it till you make it” was a way forward). I got very despondent that the tees etc weren’t printed “perfectly”. I’ve kinda got over that and realise i am still learning and i hope that people who support the brand will be ok with that too. If i wanted perfection i’d do them a different way - this way you can see the work that’s went into it all.

I’m not a confident person in many ways. I allow that negative voice to dictate - sometimes its my voice, sometimes its other peoples. But i’ve pushed through and am really proud of the new range. Its the fullest, most complete range we’ve done yet. Big thanks to Designer Chris Graham - amazing work by him again.

We both hope you like the new stuff - generally Doric Skateboards is a playful brand and this design keeps that. Although wait until you see the next design/collaboration. This one ain’t playful… ; )

Until then - thank you for all the positivity sent my way. Never taken for granted, always appreciated.

Cheers

Gary.

Doric Studio x Belmont Cinema Fundraiser Tee

Here’s your last chance to grab one! These are mainly test prints/errors (you won’t notice!) hence a slightly reduced price. We’ll still be donating more money to the Belmont cause from them. What is listed is what there is! : )

When the Belmont Cinema got in touch to talk collaboration we couldn’t have said yes quick enough.!

Many of us spent many years at the Belmont and are desperate to see it re-open. See this link here to learn more about this project.

We’ve committed to donate at least £10 from every T-Shirt sold (exact figure will be worked out once pre-order ends and all costs are taken into account!).

Designer Eva Crawford-McKee of Studio Ecm:

Merging modern and vintage influences, this design for Belmont Cinema celebrates its past and supports its promising future.

The striking entrance with inviting orange windows sits in an arch - referencing Belmont Cinemas new branding by FortyTwo Studio - and is set in the shape of a movie ticket stub. It’s fresh, funky and for a great cause!

These are hand screen printed by Doric Studio here in Aberdeen onto a 100% White Organic cotton T-Shirt from Earth Positive.

UK Postage is included in the price. For other areas of the world - please get in touch for a price quote.

Michael Sheard Tee

About 6 years ago I had this idea to celebrate some iconic pop culture icons of the eighties and the Aberdeen born actor who played them – the late Michael Sheard!

Michael was brought up in the cities Carlton Place and went Aberdeen Grammar in Rosemount.

For people of my age he played the terrifying Mr Bronson in the long running BBC TV show Grange Hill – I could talk a lot about that show!

And for others he will be remembered as Admiral Ozzel in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back where he was force choked by Darth Vader.

He also starred in many other shows, films and plays including a certain mustachiod psycho in Indiana Jones – he actually played that psycho on 3 separate occasions! Decided that wouldn’t be a good look for this design thought….

I love thinking that I’ve walked the same streets as a wee Michael Sheard who would have been a young boy growing up here never realising he was going to appear in some of the biggest pop culture shows and films of a generation.

Michael passed away in 2005. Hopefully he can inspire some other young Aberdonians to pursue a career in the arts!

This design was brought to life by the talented Greg Millar.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Futrets Hoody Green Back Print

If you grew up in the late 80/s/early 90s then you’ll know the fervour that was created by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Comic books. Cartoon. Movie. Toys. Video games.

The high was real!

And so we take an Aberdeen slant on this in an alternate timeline. What if they were Futrets (ferrets for the non-Aberdeen)?

What if they came to save us? Or maybe destroy us?

Who knows!

This design was brought to life by collaborator Nicola Lyttle.

Screen Printed on to 100% Organic Cotton.

Please note: Green Fluro Ink will fade slightly on first wash - this can’t be helped, hence slightly lower price than normal! : )

All Prices Include Postage and Packing.

Jaws Mug

Chris Graham aka D’Funkt Robot sent this one to us earlier this year. Combining the local wildlife with one of our favourite films was a no brainer. Here’s his take:

“This design is a take on one of my favourite films growing up, Jaws. My brother and I used to watch this back to back and although it scared the crap out of us, we couldn’t help but be mesmerised by this cult classic with its haunting score.

Here’s a north east twist on the iconic movie poster. You’re going to need a bigger poke o’ chips!”

These are 11oz in size and are microwave and dishwasher safe, however we'd recommend hand washing to preserve your Awesome designs!

UK Postage is included in the price. For other areas of the world - please get in touch for a price quote.
